The useful question is not whether 2.5GbE is faster than gigabit. It is whether a specific switch removes a real bottleneck while staying quiet, efficient, understandable, and compatible with the rest of the network.
A credible signal should identify port mix, management model, switching capacity, power draw, thermals, fan behavior, VLAN support, firmware history, warranty, and the actual devices that benefit. A cheap box that adds fragile management or unknown silicon may be a worse system choice than waiting.
